Description
This is a row of terraced houses located at 19-26 Eccleston Square, central London, dating from the mid-19th century. They were part of the development of Eccleston Square, planned by Thomas Cubitt beginning in 1835. The houses are built of stucco, with roofs that are not visible. They are five storeys high, plus a basement, and each house is two windows wide. Projecting porches with Doric columns and triglyph friezes provide entrance access. A continuous balustraded balcony runs along the first floor. The windows are sash windows, some with plate glass and some with glazing bars. The ground floor windows are architraved, while those on the first floor have cornices and, at Nos. 21 and 24, pediments. Second-floor windows also feature cornices. A modillion cornice sits above the fourth floor. Nos. 25 and 26 are slightly taller, with the cornice continuing above the third floor. Cast iron area railings are present.
