Description
There are two mounting blocks made of granite located on the kerbs outside the south east and south west corners of the Athenaeum and the Institute of Directors, respectively. These blocks date back to 1830 and are each inscribed with the words, "This horse block was erected by desire of the Duke of Wellington 1830." The blocks are stepped in design.
