Description
Nos 60 and 61 Long Acre is a former public house built around 1838, with some mid-century enhancements. The building is constructed of stucco and features a slate roof, showcasing a bold public house classicism style.
It occupies a corner site and stands three storeys tall with a mansard roof. The façade facing Long Acre has one window, while the corner features a bowed one-window design, and there are three windows on the return to Bow Street. The public house frontage is pilastered and includes a corner entrance beneath an entablature. The upper floors have architraved sash windows, with each floor separated by pilasters. A heavy entablature with a frieze of festooned ox masks is located above the first floor, topped by a crowning cornice and blocking course. Decorative scrolls adorn the bowed corner, and the upper storeys facing Bow Street are elaborately detailed.
