Description

67 Harley Street is a corner terraced town house built around 1773-74 as part of the Portland Estate development. It was likely designed by John White in partnership with the plasterer Thomas Collins. The house is stucco-faced with a slate roof and extends over four storeys, a basement, and has dormers in a mansard roof. It has a three-window frontage. A semicircular arched doorway is located on the right-hand side, featuring a panelled door, sidelights, and a fanlight. The windows are recessed sash windows set within stucco architraves. A plat band runs along the first floor, and the building has a parapet with coping. Original cast iron balcony railings are present across the first floor, as are cast iron area railings. The interior retains a geometrical stone staircase with a wrought iron balustrade, some plasterwork friezes, and one stucco overmantel medallion among other original features. The building underwent some alterations in the early 19th century.
