Description

The Union Society, King's College, and the former Queen's and Norfolk Hotels is a single terrace of former hotels and society premises built between 1891 and 1897 by John Dunn for the Arundel Estate. The building is constructed of red brick with terracotta decorations and features steep, tiled roofs, showcasing a rich Flemish Renaissance style. It stands five storeys tall with a basement and spans 14 windows in total. The facade includes three elaborate columned porches with enriched entablatures and parapets, with the central porch belonging to the former Queen's Hotel, featuring coupled fluted columns and a swan neck open pediment against the parapet. The windows are mullioned transomed casement types, and there are three superimposed canted bay windows on the ground and first floors. The design is further enhanced by three shaped Dutch gables, each supported by enriched console brackets.
