Description
This is a group of artisans' dwellings built in 1897 by R.S. Wornum. The buildings are located in Broad Court, City of Westminster. They are constructed of red brick with decorative stone dressings and slate roofs, and are designed in the Queen Anne style with well-executed detailing. The complex consists of three recessed, six-bay ranges linked by three advanced, pediment-gabled stair towers, with the tower on the left corner being canted. One stair tower features a doorway with an aedicule, while the other two have doorways with large shell hoods. The windows are flush-framed, segmental arched, and have glazing bars. Second and third floor stair tower windows are set in arched recesses with flush quoins, and have segmental pediments to the second floor. A bold modillion cornice runs along the top of the building. The doorway to number 19 shares details with the doorway of number 5 Broad Court. Cast iron area railings are present, topped with urn finials. The buildings are listed for their group and social historical interest.
