Description
This is a terrace of thirteen houses located on Chester Square in the City of Westminster. The terrace was planned in 1828 and construction began around 1835. The buildings are constructed of stucco with slate mansard roofs. They are three storeys high, with an attic, attic mansard, and a basement. Each house originally had two windows, though the central and end houses are one window wide and project slightly forward, featuring paired giant pilasters to the first and second floors. The ground floor is channelled. The houses have square-headed entrances and windows. They feature panelled doors. The first-floor windows of the central and end houses are set within segmental arched reveals. Cast iron balconies with an anthemion patterned design are present on the first floor. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, and there are French windows to the first floor. A cornice sits above the second floor, with a subsidiary cornice above the third. Cast iron spearhead area railings are also present. The return elevation to the left is also of architectural interest as part of a planned development.
