Description

The New Victoria Theatre, formerly a cinema, was built in 1929 and designed by E Wamsley Lewis and W E Trent. It is located on Wilton Road in the City of Westminster. The theatre's facade is constructed of concrete slab and features a long frontage with an entrance on the left side and a five-story, four-window range to the right. The ground floor is characterized by channelling with fluted granite pilasters. The entrance is flanked by black marble polygonal piers rising to the parapet and includes a low relief frieze with plaques. It has plate glass doors with chrome trim and a cantilevered canopy. Vertical fluting is present above the entrance and on the parapet. A similar elevation is visible on Vauxhall Bridge Road. The interior retains elaborate original decoration, including pilasters that broaden into layered "fountains" with concealed lighting, along with original fittings and reliefs.
