Description
The Station Master's House is an early 19th century symmetrical pair of houses located on St John's Hill. The building stands three storeys tall plus a basement and features three windows across each house, with set back end bays. It is constructed of stock brick, with a channelled stucco ground floor beneath a band course. The ground floor has square-headed windows set in round-headed recesses. There is a bracketed cornice and a blocking course at the top. Ionic pilasters are present on the first and second floors at the ends of the central bays and in the centre of the pair, although the pilasters have lost their decorations. Each end bay has an entrance porch, with the porch for No 56 located in a single-storey side extension.
