Description

The Battersea District Reference Library, dated 1924, was designed by Henry Hyams. It is a small building featuring three aisles separated by cast iron columns, with the central aisle topped by a glazed barrel-vault. The gallery has an ornamented, oak-panelled front. The fore building facing the street has one and two low storeys and showcases a picturesque design in the 'Arts and Crafts' style. The exterior is constructed of red brick, dressed with Portland stone, and has hipped, tiled roofs. Notable features include an arched entrance with carved decoration, railings, lanterns, a clock-turret, and oak doors.
