Description
No 56 on Artillery Lane is a mid-18th century building constructed of yellow brick. It features a corbelled cornice at the third floor and stone coping on the parapet. The building has four storeys and three windows, each with gauged flat arches. The windows are recessed sashes with glazing bars. A notable feature is the fine wooden Doric shop front, which includes flattened bow windows and entrances at the center and sides, adorned with carved overdoors. A continuous iron balcony on the first floor has been removed due to alterations. Inside, there is a vaulted and paved entrance corridor, along with a well-preserved interior.
Nos 52 to 58 on Artillery Lane are part of a group with Nos 2 to 16 on Artillery Passage and the bollards at the junction of the two streets.
