Description
The plaque on the modern dock wall facing west is a historical marker that commemorates the East India Dock, which was originally part of the East India Dock Gateway. The gateway was listed in 1950 but was demolished in 1958. The plaque itself dates back to 1806 and is made of polished granite with a white stone frame. It has been relocated from its original position at the gateway to the East India Dock. The plaque celebrates the construction of the dock and its opening on 4 August 1806.
