Description
The Nash Monument at Christ Church is a churchyard memorial dating from around 1820, though it may incorporate elements from a mid-18th century tomb. Made of Portland stone, it features statuary marble inscription panels. The monument consists of a square obelisk topped with a flaming gadrooned urn, which stands on four legs atop a square pedestal. The pedestal has an entablature and inscription panels on each side. This memorial was erected to honor members of the Nash family who died in 1820, 1835, and 1853, among others. It is the only churchyard monument that has survived at Christ Church in Spitalfields.
