Description

Numbers 36-40 form a terrace of five houses built between 1810 and 1830. The houses are constructed of yellow brick with stucco dressings, and have a slate roof with round-headed dormers and a deep eaves cornice made of wood with brackets. Each house has two bays and extends over two storeys, with an attic and basement. The entrances feature paired Doric doorcases with attached columns, triglyph friezes, and mutule cornices. The doors themselves have pilaster jambs, cornice heads, and oblong overlights, while the windows have stucco architraves with bracketed sills. The ground-floor windows have 4 panes and decorative console bracketed cornices. The interior of the houses has not been inspected. Attached cast-iron railings with palmette heads run along the front of the terrace, although these are missing from number 38.
