Public house. Late C19. Red and stock brick with glazed brick plinth and stucco dressings; tiled roof. Wedge-shaped plan with chamfered corner. Queen Anne style. 3 storeys, with 3-window range, that to right with segmental bay to 1st floor only. 4-window range to return, a similar bay in the 3rd range. Ornamental plaque to 1st floor on corner; bay to 2nd floor above, an oriel. Segmental-arched windows to upper floors except in bays and oriel. Storey band and sill band to 2nd-floor windows. Pedimented dormer to each elevation. Ground-floor of an authentic design articulated by fluted pilasters with elaborately modelled panels with jester's masks. Appropriately detailed late C20 door. Some stained glass to ground floor. INTERIOR: unusually complete with authentic cornice and slender iron columns. A well-designed building that makes the most of its corner site.
