Description
Numbers 21 and 23 are a pair of houses built around 1820, located on Park Street in Southwark. They are constructed of yellow brick and stucco, featuring a tiled mansard roof that is set behind a parapet. The houses have wrought-iron handrails and cast-iron supports for wooden entrance canopies. They rise three storeys, with an attic and basement. The entrances are located on the returns, with No. 21 accessible from Redcross Way. The original doors remain intact. The sash windows are adorned with gauged, flat brick arches, and the reveals are lined with stucco, which includes stucco sills and a sill band on the first floor. The mansard dormers and a tall, central chimney stack add to the architectural interest. The interior has not been inspected. The area features railings with urn finials, and the houses were likely built to accommodate senior employees from the nearby Anchor Brewery, although the brewery itself is not included in this listing.
