Description
The facade of Nos 133 to 155 on Waterloo Road, built in 1928 by architects Payne and Wyatt, features a monumental classical design. It consists of seven bays, with narrower end bays that project slightly. The main facade is distinguished by three-storey enriched Ionic half columns that rise from a base storey with shop fronts divided by piers. Above the shop fronts, there is an entablature. Between the piers, ornamental metal windows are enhanced with architectural metal treatments between the storeys. The end bays have a door on the ground floor and a window on each upper floor. The building is topped with an entablature featuring a modillioned cornice and a balustraded parapet that runs the full length of the structure.
