Description
The Church of St Mary is a Grade II* listed building located on Lambeth Road, dating back to 1377. The tower, which was repaired in 1834-1835, features four stages and a battlemented parapet, along with a south-east octagonal turret. The nave, south porch, and north aisle were constructed between 1851 and 1852 by P C Hardwick in the style of the 14th century, showcasing flamboyant traceried windows. The church is built of coursed rubble with freestone dressings. Inside the chancel, there are two early 16th-century recessed tomb-chests, along with several 18th-century and early 19th-century memorial tablets located in the aisles. The church has been deconsecrated. The churchyard contains classical tombs from the 18th and 19th centuries.
