Description

Christ Church is a church constructed between 1861 and 1862 by Benjamin Ferrey. It is built in the Early 14th century style, with coursed rubble masonry and freestone dressings. The church comprises a nave, aisles of almost equal height under separate roofs, and a lower chancel with shorter aisles. A link connects the south chancel aisle to an octagonal vestry building dating from 1898. North and south porches are also present.

Inside, the church provides a spacious atmosphere. The five-bay nave features alternating round and octagonal columns. The roof is timbered, with collar beams and windbraces. A screen was added to the north chapel in 1906. A notable feature is an elaborate pulpit crafted from polished stones. Stained glass windows are by Clayton and Bell.
