Description
The Peache family tomb, located in the churchyard to the north-west of the portico of the Church of St John with All Saints, dates back to 1815. It is a very large sarcophagus-shaped chamber made of Portland stone. The tomb features a high plinth and battered angles, with ribs that support a roll moulding and a deep coved cornice that includes modified triglyphs. There is a blocking course above. Slate slabs on three sides of the tomb display a helmet on the front, the names of the chief members of the family on the right, and a list of ten children on the left, all but one of whom died in childhood or youth.
