Description

This is a pair of stucco-fronted buildings, numbers 1 to 5 Sydney Place, and number 6 Sydney Place, constructed around 1825 to 1830 by George Basevi. They serve as one of two matching blocks leading into Onslow Square from Fulham Road. The buildings are three storeys high with attics and basements, and each house originally contained two windows, with the end houses being slightly set forward. The end houses feature a single three-light window. A cast iron balcony runs across the entire front of the building, and the doorways are Roman Ionic pilastered, with a freestanding porch to number 6. The ground floor of number 1 has been altered for use as a bank.
