Description

This is a mid-19th century classical terrace of houses, originally numbers 9 to 25, on the east side of ONSLOW SQUARE. The building is constructed of gault brick with stucco detailing, and has a slate roof. It extends to three storeys and an attic, with a basement level. Roman Doric porches are present, with a continuous cast iron balcony on the first floor. Windows feature semi-circular pediments on the first floor and cambered heads on the second floor. A modillion cornice sits below a balustraded parapet to the attic. Numbers 19 and 21, along with the ends of the terrace at numbers 11 and part of 25, project slightly forward, featuring tripartite windows to the first and second floors and a Doric colonnade across the front. Number 25 is a post-war rebuilding of several houses that were destroyed, replicating the original facade to create flats, although the balustrade to the parapet differs. The mansard roof is also of a different form from the original. Numbers 9 and 11 were combined and are now known as number 11.
