Description

Pelham Crescent, numbers 1 to 14, forms a terrace within a formal stucco composition designed by George Basevi around 1825. Each house is three storeys high, with a basement, and features a slated mansard roof. They are two windows wide. A continuous balustraded parapet and a modillion cornice run along the terrace. Projecting porches, each with piers topped by lotus caps, are positioned below inset round-headed doorways. A cast iron balcony extends across the entire facade at the first-floor level, projecting over the porches. Balconies are also present at the ground-floor windows. The ground and first-floor windows are square, with French heads and casements. Spearhead area railings are a distinctive feature.
