Description

A row of dwelling houses dating from around 1830, likely designed by George Basevi. Numbers 31 to 54 form a group, and are arranged with a three-storey and basement central section, flanked by taller four-storey houses at each end. The central houses have two windows each, while the taller ones have tripartite windows on the first floor. Continuous balconies are present, except on the taller end houses. The doorways are distinguished by Ionic pilasters. The row forms the central part of a formal stucco composition, featuring a curved centre and two detached wings; numbers 26 to 30 form the west wing, and numbers 55 to 59 form the east wing of the crescent. Numbers 26 to 59 are considered a group.
