Description
No. 27 Myddelton Street is a former end-of-terrace house with a ground-floor shop, dating from around 1820 to 1830. The building is now partially occupied by a plating works. It is constructed of multi-coloured stock brick in a Flemish bond, with a wooden shopfront and a Welsh-slate mansard roof featuring dormers. A brick stack is visible on the left party wall. The ground-floor layout includes a shop and a house entrance with a staircase located in the return wall facing Gloucester Way.
The building is three storeys high with an attic, and has a two-window facade to the front, plus a single window to the right-hand return. The ground-floor shop is articulated by pilasters, with console brackets on the ends. A 19th-century panelled shop door is located on the right, above a four-light glazed shopfront which is currently obscured by a hoarding. The return wall has two round-arched entrances, one of which is blocked; the house entrance to the right has fluted quarter-column jambs, a 20th-century door, and a three-light fanlight. The upper floors feature 6/6 sash windows with Gauged brick flat arches. The first floor windows have Rococo-style cast-iron window guards to the front. A stone coping sits atop a plain brick parapet.
