Description

These are a row of terraced houses, built around 1820. They are located on Halton Road, Islington. The houses are constructed of yellow brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with some areas rendered. The roofs are hidden behind a parapet. The houses generally have three storeys over a basement, although numbers 30 and 32 have only two storeys. Each house has two windows. All window and door openings are surrounded by brickwork with a gauged head. The basement is rendered except at number 32. Steps lead up to a round-arched entrance with pilaster-jambs, except for numbers 28-32, where the entrances are simpler. A cornice is present on the entrances except at number 28, and each has a fanlight above the door. The ground-floor windows are round-arched, except for numbers 28-32, which have elliptical arches. The upper-floor windows are flat-arched. Number 26 appears to retain its original 6/6 sash windows. Cast-iron balconies are located in front of the first-floor windows of most of the houses, except those at numbers 28-32. Number 28 features a dormer window within a mansard roof, which is set back. The area railings have decorative finials in the shape of urns, spearheads, and torch flambe designs.
