Description
This is a row of six terraced houses, numbers 54 to 61 Rawstorne Road, built between 1789 and 1790. They were developed by Thomas Rawstorne, a brickmaker. The houses are constructed of yellow brick laid in a Flemish bond pattern, with the original roofs now hidden behind a parapet. The buildings are three storeys high and generally have a two-window front. Number 54 incorporates a shop front, likely dating from the 19th century, featuring pilasters, a fascia, a cornice, and a return into Rawstone Place. Number 61 has a cambered-arched entrance with a simple doorcase and overlight. The remaining houses have flat-arched entrances recessed under a round arch, ornamented with impost blocks, a cornice, and a plastered tympanum. All the windows have cambered arches, with two windows on the ground floor. Number 60 has undergone significant rebuilding.
