Description

These are a row of terraced houses located on Liverpool Road, Islington, built between 1821 and 1841. The houses are constructed of yellow brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with stucco dressings, and a hidden roof behind a parapet. They stand three storeys high with a basement level, and each house originally had two windows.

The basement is stuccoed, and a flight of steps leads to a round-arched entrance featuring fluted quarter-columns, a cornice, a fanlight, and an original panelled door. The ground-floor window is also round-arched. A stucco band marks the first floor, while the first and second-floor windows are flat-arched. The first-floor windows, which constitute the "piano nobile" level, are set back under round arches of gauged brick, linked by stucco springing bands. Balconies with cast-iron railings are present on the first floor. The windows to the second floor of number 111 have simple lintels instead of the gauged brick arches seen elsewhere. The upper floors of numbers 113, 115, and 117 have been rebuilt above the original second-floor windows. Stacks are located within the party walls.
