Description

These are a row of terraced houses located in Rawstorne Street, dating from 1789-90. They were developed by Thomas Rawstorne, a brickmaker. The houses are constructed of yellow brick laid in a Flemish bond pattern, with roofs hidden behind a parapet. They are three storeys high, with two windows to each property except for No.15, which has four, incorporating the former No.16. A flat-arched entrance is set under a round arch, featuring impost blocks and a plastered tympanum. The doorcases are plain, and Nos.15-20 have cornices. Most windows have cambered arches, but Nos.18-20 have flat-arched lintels. The ground floor windows are generally two per property, with exceptions: Nos.3-6 and Nos.18-20 each have a single window. No.3 has a tripartite window. Original 6/6 sash windows remain in Nos. 11 (ground floor), 13 (ground floor), and 15. The building has a parapet.
