Description
The British Legion Club is a late 18th century building that was originally a pair of houses now combined into one. It stands three storeys high with a basement and features three windows across its façade. There is a two-storey, one-window extension that slightly projects to the south. The building is constructed of stock brick and has a stone-coped parapet. The sash windows, some of which have glazing bars, are set within stucco-lined reveals and are topped with gauged near-flat brick arches.
To the left, there are eight steps leading up to the entrance door, which has four fielded panels and one flat panel, along with a radial fanlight above. The doorcase is adorned with Ionic columns, an entablature, and an open pediment that features decorative modillions and dentils. There is a late 20th-century extension on the right and a further set-back extension from the mid to late 19th century on the left.
