Description
The main building of St Paul's Girls' School, dating from 1904 to 1907, was designed by Gerald Horsley. It is constructed of red brick and stone, with a slate roof. The building is symmetrical in design. The central three-bay entrance block is three stories high, with two windows in each bay. A large segmental-headed window is located in the centre bay of the second floor, topped by a heavily ornamented segmental pediment. Flanking the central block are single-story three-window wings, each featuring a centrally placed sculptured panel beneath a segmental pediment. These wings are connected to the central block by lower, single-story sections with dormered mansards. The building incorporates substantial figurative carving throughout.
