Description

This is a mid-19th century building composed in the Tudor style, located at 1-3 Church Crescent, E9. The building is two storeys and five bays wide, with the outer bays set beneath gables. The narrow central bay contains the entrance and has a small gable above a small first-floor window. The construction is of stock brick with red brick quoins and dressings, and a stuccoed parapet and gable copings. The high-pitched roof is covered in large slates, with tall brick chimneys. The windows are one-bar casements set within chamfered stucco surrounds, alternating in style; each has a hoodmould above. The ground-floor windows on either side are shallow, canted bays with hipped lead hoods. Attic windows are set within gauged, shouldered red brick arches. The central door is set back behind a four-centred gauged brick arch with a key block. Entrances are also located to the rear of the building, at Nos 1 and 3, with No 1's entrance beneath a gabled hood supported by long brackets, and No 3 featuring a Tudor-arched porch. A small extension is located to the rear of No 1. Nos 1 to 7 Church Crescent, along with Monger House and the east wall, form a group.
