Description

Temple Church (St Mary's) is a Grade I listed building located on Inner Temple Lane, consecrated in 1185. It features a circular, aisled nave with a clerestory and a west porch. The aisled chancel, which has no clerestory, includes a south porch and a north extension, consecrated in 1240. The church has undergone significant restoration and rebuilding, particularly after World War II, and is now largely faced with ashlar and has a lead roof. Inside, there are notable medieval and later monuments, as well as a late 17th century reredos made of carved wood.
