Description
Nos 2 and 3 Hare Court, located in Middle Temple, were built in 1894 by Sir T.G. Jackson. The buildings are constructed of red brick with Portland stone dressings and rise to four storeys with an attic. They feature sash windows throughout, with exposed box frames, and are set beneath flat, segmental, and semi-circular headed arches at the entrance bays. The Hare Court elevation includes a pair of curved bay windows, which are flanked by projecting entrance bays that have rubbed brick pedimented doorways and triglyph friezes. These projecting bays are topped with four Dutch gables, all unified by a modillion cornice. The pedimented dormers are situated between and flanking the gables on the tiled roofs. Gas lamps on wrought iron brackets are positioned at the entrance bays. The elevation facing Middle Temple Lane is symmetrically designed above the ground floor, featuring pilastered oriels—one canted and four curved—rising through the first and second floors.
