Description
The Clock House Public House is a mid-19th century establishment located on Leather Lane in Camden. The building is constructed of stucco with a ground floor featuring green glazed tiles, which are now painted over. It stands three storeys tall and has two windows on the main facade, with a splayed corner and a three-window return on Hatton Wall, some of which are blind. The ground floor has segmental arched openings, adorned with busts in roundels within the spandrels. The entrance is situated in the splayed corner, and there is an entablature at the first floor level. The first floor windows are square-headed, framed with architraves and topped with cornices supported by console brackets. Above the entrance, there is a free-standing royal coat of arms with supporters. The second floor features architraved sash windows, with a clock positioned above the coat of arms. The building is topped with a cornice and blocking course.
Inside, the pub has a single bar that retains a large 19th-century bar back with a moulded cornice and later mirrors. The bar counter dates from the early 20th century. The ceiling features 19th-century ribs and decorated ventilation grills, with late 20th-century inset mirrors. Early 20th-century dado panelling and window surrounds are consistent throughout, and there is a rear fireplace with an eared surround.
