Description
A terrace of nine houses at Numbers 26-34 Burton Street, Camden, designed and built between about 1801 and 1813 by James Burton. The earlier section, Numbers 26-30, dates from about 1810-13, while Numbers 31-34 are slightly earlier. The houses were converted into flats in the 1980s. They are constructed of yellow stock brick, with some later brick replacement, and have stucco ground floors. The design is of four storeys and includes basements. Most houses have two windows, except Number 32, which has four. The doorways have round arches, some with pilaster-jambs and cornice-heads, fanlights (with an original patterned fanlight at Number 29), and panelled doors. Recessed sash windows are set within gauged brick flat arches, with continuous cast-iron balconies to the first floor. Parapets top the facade. The interiors have not been inspected. Attached cast-iron railings with urn finials define the areas.
