Description
The tomb of Al Davies and family is located in the extension of St John's Churchyard and dates from around 1907. It features a rectangular limestone headstone with a segmental-arched pediment supported by console brackets, which are adorned with carved passion flowers. The central panel is inscribed, and below it, there is an architraved panel with lettering in good relief.
Historically, Arthur Llewelyn Davies, a barrister, married the second daughter of George du Maurier. Their five sons met J.M. Barrie in Hyde Park in 1897, inspiring his creation of Peter Pan in 1903. Following the tragic early deaths of their parents, Barrie adopted the boys.
