Description

Numbers 2-14 and attached railings form a terrace of seven houses built around 1801-1806 by James Burton. The facade was reconstructed in 1975 using matching materials. The houses are constructed of multi-coloured stock brick, with concrete sill bands marking the first and second floors, and a moulded sill band on the third floor. They are four storeys high, with basements. Each house originally had three windows. The round-arched entrances have cornice heads, radial patterned fanlights, and panelled doors, although the doorway on the western end (now part of Number 2) has been replaced with a window. Gauged brick flat arches feature above the recessed sash windows; the first floor has continuous cast-iron balconies. The buildings are topped by parapets. The interiors have not been inspected. Attached cast-iron railings with urn finials define the areas. The railings are considered to have group value.
