Description
This is a single cattle trough located opposite the end of Belmont Street and 20 meters southeast of the Roundhouse. It dates from the late 19th century and is made of granite. The trough was placed by the Metropolitan Cattle Trough and Drinking Fountain Association in memory of the Christian Socialist Charles Kingsley. The initials of the donors are mostly obscured. There is a large and bold inscription along one side identifying it as the work of the Metropolitan Cattle Trough and Drinking Fountain Association. It forms a pair with the nearby drinking fountain and is part of a group with the Roundhouse.
