Description

This is a row of five terraced houses with later shops, built around 1810 to 1813 by J. Payne. The houses are constructed of yellow stock brick, with sections of the facade having been rebuilt. They stand four storeys high and include cellars. Each house originally had two windows. Number 5 features a wooden shopfront with pilasters that support a projecting entablature with rounded ends and a projecting cornice. The shop window and doorway have undergone alterations. The house doorway is square-headed, with an overlight featuring margin lights and a panelled door. Houses 4, 6, 7, and 8 have altered shopfronts dating from the 19th and 20th centuries. Recessed sash windows are topped with gauged brick flat arches. Parapets run along the roofline. The interiors have not been inspected.
