Description
Blackthorpe Farmhouse is a farmhouse with a T-shaped form, dating from the 17th century. It features a two-storey timber-framed range aligned east-west, which is encased in colour-washed 19th-century brick. There is also a late 18th-century range aligned north-south, with two storeys and attics. This range has colour-washed brick on the ground storey, rubble flint on the side wall, and a timber-framed and rendered upper storey. Both ranges are topped with 20th-century plaintiles.
The principal front, now the garden front facing east, includes a former central entrance door that is located inside a large semi-circular Edwardian conservatory with a conical plaintiled roof. There is a small-paned sash window in a flush frame on each side of the conservatory, along with four similar windows on the first storey. A dormer features a lead-covered segmental-arched roof and cheeks. The older range has small-paned sash windows in cased frames with arched heads. There is a 20th-century gable entrance, and along the south side, there is a single-storey 18th-century lean-to with square-leaded casement windows.
