Description

The precinct wall to the south of the Abbey Gate in Bury St Edmunds is a significant historical structure dating from the 12th century, with alterations made in the 14th century after the rising of 1327. This short section of wall is located along the east side of Angel Hill, situated between the south side of the Abbey Gate and the north side of Abbey House. The wall is constructed from coursed and rubble flint, with repairs made using stone blocks. It is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
