Description
Hawkedon Hall is a 18th century plastered front that covers a 15th century timber-framed house with later extensions. The building has two storeys and attics, featuring a seven-window range with double-hung sashes that have glazing bars, all set in cased frames. The entrance includes a six-panel door with glazed panels, topped by a semi-circular fanlight with radial glazing bars, and is framed by a wooden doorcase with panelled pilasters and an open pediment. At the rear, there are later wings. The roof is tiled and includes one gabled dormer at the front and three octagonal shafted chimney stacks. Inside, there is a notable 15th century moulded beam and joist ceiling, along with king-post roof trusses in the older section. Additionally, there is a fully panelled room from the early 17th century.
