Description
The boundary wall to the north of the Borough Offices in Bury St Edmunds dates from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is constructed of red brick laid in English Bond and features a plain brick coping. The wall is tall and rises at the west end, where it forms part of the south wall of the former stable range of No. 8 Angel Hill. This section includes an angle buttress, and the bricks here are smaller and older, with galleting in the mortar. At the north-east corner, there are two square brick piers adjacent to each other, one of which has a moulded stone cornice and a 20th-century replacement ball finial.
