Description
The ruined circular structure located 2 metres east of the Church of St. Mary Magdalene is a medieval feature. It is built from flint rubble and has an approximately circular plan with a diameter of 7 metres. The wall thickness is 0.80 metres, and it reaches a maximum height of 0.80 metres on the east side, tapering down to below the current ground level on the west. The centre of the structure is situated 3 metres south of the church's axis. This ruin appears to be the base of a structure that is equal to or older than the existing church, although it does not have an obvious functional relationship with it; it may possibly be the remains of a Saxon tower.
