Description

Lidgate Stores is a 16th-century timber-framed and plastered house. It has two storeys in some parts and one storey with attics in others. The north-west end features a gabled cross wing, which includes a double bow-window early 19th-century shop front on the ground floor and a jettied upper storey. At the south end, there are three 20th-century oriel windows. The roof is thatched and has two gabled dormers. The property's deeds date back to 1685, when it was transferred from James Tyler to John Johnson. Lidgate Stores, John O Lidgate's House, Crispen Cottage, and the adjoining premises, including the cottage to the north-west of Crispen Cottage and Lidgate Cottage, form a group.
