Description

Chare Farmhouse is a farmhouse with an early 19th-century front and an older rear section. It has two storeys and an L-shaped form. The front is made of white brick, while the south gable is constructed from red brick. The roof is slate with overhanging eaves and a wooden dentil cornice. There are end chimney-stacks featuring white brick shafts. The building has a three-window range with small-paned sashes set in flush frames. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed door topped by a small flat-roofed portico, which is supported by narrow rounded columns. The rear range is timber-framed and encased in fletton brick; it dates from the 18th century but is likely based on a 16th-century structure, possibly with a jettied design along the south side.
