Description
This is a barn located 30 metres south of Place Farmhouse, dating from the early 17th century with alterations around 1800. It has seven bays and is unaisled, featuring a gabled midstrey on the west side. The barn is constructed with a timber frame and weatherboarding set on a red brick plinth, topped with a corrugated iron roof. There is some notable close-studding present. The original tie-beams, roof structure, and likely the first floor structure were removed around 1800, and a new clasped-purlin roof was installed. This barn was part of a complex of buildings that once surrounded the base court of Hawstead Place and is included for its group value.
