Description
Parklane Cottage is a house that was formerly an estate cottage for Reverend Sir Thomas Cullum, as indicated by a plaque dating to 1843. The building has a Y-shaped plan and is one and a half storeys tall with attics. It is constructed of flint rubble, featuring quoins and Flemish gables made of red brick. The roof is covered with fish-scale slates and has crested ridge tiles. There is an axial chimney with three clustered circular shafts that have moulded caps and bases, adorned with diaper-carved tiles, which were restored around 1980. The house has attached square plinths with carved tiles on the frieze. The windows are two-light designs with red brick hood-moulds and chamfered reveals, and they feature wrought iron casements with hexagonal and diamond panes. The entrance door is battened and boarded, leading to a fully-glazed polygonal porch that was added around 1980. The house underwent restoration and extension around the same time.
