Description

Meadow Cottage is a house dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century. It has a three-cell cross passage entry plan and is one and a half storeys tall, with attics and three windows. The building is timber-framed and has rough-cast render on the exterior. The roof is thatched and hipped at the right-hand end, featuring an axial chimney and an eyebrow casement dormer. There are 19th and 20th-century casement windows and a 20th-century boarded entrance door. A notable feature is the complete timber chimney serving the hall, dating from around 1600, which has a short brick flue at the top; this is a very rare surviving feature for Suffolk. Additionally, there is a 20th-century thatched extension to the rear that is one and a half storeys high.
